ABOUT

Dissidenz Films is Bich-Quân Tran’s own company -she previously cofounded and run video distribution company Blaq Out for ten years. Having explored different paths while at Blaq Out -whether DVD international sales with French classics by Luc Moullet, Jean-Claude Brisseau, Jean Paul Civeyrac or Raul Ruiz, to name a few, or actual international sales and all rights distribution with Koji Wakamatsu’s films (including UNITED RED ARMY and Berlinale Silver Bear Winner CATERPILLAR), Bich-Quân Tran decided to leave Blaq Out end of 2011 to create a new company with broadened activities: Dissidenz Films.

Dissidenz Films is mainly a distribution company focused on maverick documentary features and cross-genre works as well as Asian auteur films. We also look into international sales and coproduction of niche radical films by directors with a unique artistic vision.

Documentary features Dissidenz Films released include SPECIAL FLIGHT and THE SHELTER by Fernand Melgar, FORGET ME NOT by David Sieveking and DIOR AND I by Frederic Tcheng.
Asian films Dissidenz Films released include 11.25: THE DAY HE CHOSE HIS OWN FATE by Koji Wakamatsu, PLUTO by Shin Su-won, BLEAK NIGHT by Yoon Sung-hyun, HAN GONG-JU by Lee Sujin, DEATH IN THE LAND OF ENCANTOS by Lav Diaz, SHADOW DAYS by Zhao Dayong and WOMEN OF THE WEEPING RIVER by Sheron Dayoc, to name a few.

Dissidenz Films also coproduced PROLOGUE TO THE GREAT DESAPARECIDO by Lav Diaz, which premiered at San Sebastian Film Festival and was presented at Busan Film Festival and New York Film Festival among others, and is handling the international sales of a few atypical films (see www.dissidenz.com).

Upcoming coproduction projects include JASMINE by Vietnamese director Dang Nhât Minh and SERVANDO MAGDAMAG by Lav Diaz (based on a short story by renowned Filipino writer Ricky Lee).
